Why Death Penalty for rapes might not be an amazing idea?

The Cabinet's approval of death penalty for minors (below age twelve) and President's approval to that ,while might have raised hopes of the people in general regarding women safety in country, it might not actually do what they are expecting it to do. Why? Let's read along. Increasing instances of rapes, especially those in which minors are the victims, have revived the debate about death penalty for rapes. This time the rhetoric is a bit different as people are asking for death penalty where the minor is below the age of 12. As growing public opinion seems to be asking for revenge and as govt. opinion seems to be now getting affected by populist concerns, a bit more insight is needed whether introduction of death penalty would be beneficial or not. Demand: Introduction of death penalty for raping minors (below 12) Reason: Raping a child of such a small age is heinous and death penalty should be there as it would act as a “deterrent”. Analysis: For a cru...

The Padmavati , padmavat , padma ...padman ?....Controversy

Brave (sarcastic smile) Karni Sena Attacks Kids' School Buses. Well done Karni Sena. The controversy over the issue of the movie Padmavati has a actually grown very serious with so many goons out there on the street attacking school kids, burning public property and vandalizing theaters.

Well let's try to Understand the controversy before taking any sides. Actually a section of a community believes that This movie "Padmavati" is trying to disgrace a Queen Padmavati ( whose existence hasn't been proven archaeologically and quite possible she is just a legend) by showing her getting cozy with a Muslim King Allahudin Khilji( none has seen the movie and looks like they all have had some kind of enlightenment or something). They also believe that a song "Ghoomar" of the same movie is also a disgrace to their bloodline as none of their woman has ever danced in front of a Muslim King. They claim that history is being distorted in the movie.

Problem Analysis :

1) The First problem is that we, Indians , are still not able to respect anyone's freedom of expression. We are always very well aware and agile in using ours though. That is what Karni Sena is doing right now. Using its freedom of expression ( although very wrongfully and violently) to suppress the Freedom of Expression of others. Violation of freedom of expression isn't the only violation here Right to do Business, Right to life etc etc etc everything is being violated. Nice Work Karni Sena.
Conclusion : If you can mobilize people and get them to do some violence for your cause only then you can practice your rights , not otherwise. You are right if you can attack and burn. Thumbs up......(Sound similar to terrorists.)

2) Being aware of who you are, where you belong is nice but being over critical about it make you do insane stuff just similar to what many people are doing right now. I wish they could attach a similar sense of belonging to the Nation and that might have prevented them from the violence they are doing , the damage they are doing to the Nation and its property. Such strong sense of being attached to your caste/community and believing in your own superiority(which actually doesn't exist) just increases hatred in the society. If you can't be an asset in Nation's development, don't be a liability either. (There has been a long debate on what is anti-nationalism...well I think I know the answer now.)

3) The 3rd problem is the wide gap between the issues that we should be worried about and the issues which we are actually worried about. We should be more conscious and concerned about Education, Health, Employment, Poverty, Social Justice , Sex-ratio , equality , inclusive development, new technologies for better existence , crimes but what we are indulged in is violence so that we can stop screening of a movie which we presume is a disgrace to our bloodline. ( Question of the day - Has Karni Sena or similar organizations shown concern over Rapes , Eve teasing ? Answer - No. They are concerned about grace of a lady(who might even be mythical) and not about the ladies who actually exist. Rather they are ready to burn and kill people because it comes with a lot of grace.)

4) Some are saying that this movie is distorting the History. So let me ask them to name me a single period film which is historically correct. Every period film made till now has distorted history to make the plot more interesting , entertaining and adding some 'masala' (that's how we like it). It is a lot to ask from Sanjay Leela Bhansali to entertain you and also be your History teacher. Movies are meant for entertainment and maybe sometimes for intellectual learning but don't start preparing for your history exam from the movies and at least not when the movie comes with a disclaimer. (Creative license ? )

5) This issue definitely has some political encouragement behind it. In our country political motives and politics can never be ruled out when it comes to caste/community/religion.

The Honorable Supreme court has already ordered for the screening of the film. It is not getting screened in 4 states though due to the reasons of security. This is just the failure of the states to handle a law and order situation. The time has come where people need to be taught that resorting to violence to attain their goals is not something acceptable.( Hint : terrorists and criminals also do the same, take up arms to attain their goal). Either learn to voice your concerns more peacefully or stop raising them. And even while raising your concerns, be ready to accept and follow what constitution says, even when it doesn't suit your orientation.
India is a big Nation, around 150 crore people, every section of society has got different aspirations and opinions but this is where our beauty lies, Unity in Diversity.

let's do a bit of maths here.
total population : 150,00,00,000
let's suppose 1000 people are enough to burn a village/town down in a day.
total no. of towns burnt in a day= 15,00,000 (15 lakh)
and life is just not a day long. You could burn the whole India down. Maybe the whole world too.

Now the same people could channelize their energy into something constructive and same number of towns could be developed. This is just the matter of choice. I am up for development.

Choose your side wisely.
