Why Death Penalty for rapes might not be an amazing idea?

The Cabinet's approval of death penalty for minors (below age twelve) and President's approval to that ,while might have raised hopes of the people in general regarding women safety in country, it might not actually do what they are expecting it to do. Why? Let's read along. Increasing instances of rapes, especially those in which minors are the victims, have revived the debate about death penalty for rapes. This time the rhetoric is a bit different as people are asking for death penalty where the minor is below the age of 12. As growing public opinion seems to be asking for revenge and as govt. opinion seems to be now getting affected by populist concerns, a bit more insight is needed whether introduction of death penalty would be beneficial or not. Demand: Introduction of death penalty for raping minors (below 12) Reason: Raping a child of such a small age is heinous and death penalty should be there as it would act as a “deterrent”. The Love Prevails : Athar Amir Khan weds Tina Dabi

Social stereotypes =0 , Love and Liberty = 1 I was in the middle of my class , when my phone notifications popped up. 2015 UPSC toppers Rank 1 Tina Dabi and Rank 2 Athar Amir khan tie knots. It wasn’t that I was friends with either of them, it was just the newspaper app that I had in my phone giving me the regular updates. I was sitting in this UPSC coaching class, so this news seemed quite relevant to me, not because I am in love with someone but just because I see this as a challenge to all the senseless and stupid boundaries that people try to draw around us , trying to curb our liberty in every sphere of life. As I live away from home, it has become a norm to call my parents every evening around 7-8 pm. That’s when I called them. I was in the middle of the conversation when I thought of telling them about the amazing news I got to know that day. I definitely knew that it won’t be as amazing for them because they too have certain views which won’t go very well along with this. ...

Student : A failure

The race of life that we are busy running has taken its toll on the younger generation of the society too who still are students. In schools and colleges, where they should be expected to learn , not only their subjects but also the way life is meant to be lived , they are exposed to gravely dangerous levels of unnecessary stress. This has become an undeclared norm in the such educational institutions to literally worship the ones who are getting more marks than the others. And it doesn't stop at just worshiping them, it also takes the form of thrashing and insulting the students who score low. But this is not for what they were sent there. Everyone has his own sets of interests , strengths and weaknesses. Judging a fish on the basis of its ability to climb a tree is actually a violation of natural justice. It is not expected of the teachers to demoralize a student. They should concentrate more on how can they help their students have a better future. They shouldn't just try t...

CBSE and the paper leak - What's new this time?

Paper leak is a norm and not an exception. The exception is the decision to reconduct the examinations and that is the sole reason for the protests and loss in faith. The recent CBSE paper leak case has left people wondering if the future of their kids is in the right hands. The students are also disgruntled as they will have to appear for the exams again. Has the institution of education in India fallen ? Before asking this question , let's analyze things a bit more. Why are students and their parents angry? Paper leak ? No. There were CBSE exam paper leaks in the past also. None cared about those leaks, none talked about those leaks. Students and their parents happily went with the flow for their selfish interests. None approached the authorities complaining about the leaks then. None cared to ask whether the institution of education has fallen or not. So why have people lost faith now ? 1. Students are generally afraid of exams. There might be further apprehensions ab...
